Using Game Saves?
« on: April 15, 2014, 12:09:42 AM »
I wanted to know how I would go about using a 100% complete gave save for games?
I really want to use one for Sonic Adventure 2.

Where are the save files located?
Has anyone gotten completed game saves to work with this emulator?

Hi mate,

I don't think you can use saved game files from a different source.
I have left a suggestion for that but, it hasn't been implemented yet.

The emulators save files (I believe) are vmu_save_A1.bin and vmu_save_A1_A2.bin

I have managed to copy a save file from my mobile and use it on my tablet and the save file worked so i could carry on the game on my tablet.

So you might try to ask someone if they have finished the game using the emulator and ask for its save files.

I was able to do so using Chankast's VMSBrowser.  Just grab the vmu_save_A1.bin that reicast creates, rename it to vms.bin, and it will import into VMSBrowser.  I used DCI files and have my 100% Sonic Adventure 2 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 saves working in reicast. Don't forget to rename the vms.bin file back to vmu_save_A1.bin when you copy it back to your Android device.

reicast right now uses the same format that's used by nulldc, chankast and I believe most other dreamcast emulators (raw dump of the vmu file). I'm working on some tools to make it easy (you can see some work on http://reicast.github.io/vmujs ) but it'll take a while before everything is finished...
